Baumer Electric Introduces MagRes Magnetic Absolute Encoder

Southington, Conn. -March 27, 2002. Baumer Electric has introduced the MagRes Magnetic Absolute Encoder, a groundbreaking innovation in speed, direction, and position monitoring, that features up to 10-bit resolution in a single turn configuration.

Available in a standard encoder style housing or in a non-contact kit version, low cost Baumer MagRes encoders are zero-point programmable, feature both SSI and parallel outputs, and will operate optimally in temperatures from -20 to 85°C.

The non-contact kit version of the MagRes encoder measures only 15.5 mm in depth, weighs just 50 grams, and offers IP68 sealing on its face. This low cost, miniature MagRes kit features a rotor system that eliminates mechanical failure associated with wear of moving parts, and offers improved reliability. The non-contact encoder is designed with a 12-pin connector for easy installation.

Baumer's standard MagRes weighs in at 120 grams and features a cable connection. The encoder's shaft is IP42 sealed, while the housing offers IP64 protection.
