WORCESTER, Mass., November 12, 2001-In tests on weld beads, carbon and stainless steel, cast iron, brass and aluminum, Norton GreenLyte(TM) fibre discs provide faster cut rates and longer life than the best currently available high performance coated abrasive discs.
GreenLyte F968 and GreenLyte Plus F986 are made with premium seeded gel ceramic grain. An innovative manufacturing process that improves the orientation of the abrasive grain generates higher initial cut rates and a higher level of total material removal throughout their operating life.
The special resin layer on GreenLyte Plus F986 incorporates grinding aids for best performance on stainless and alloyed steels. F986 also generates better finishes than any previous available ceramic fibre discs' design.
In extensive internal and field tests, the new GreenLyte F968 and GreenLyte Plus F986 performed 30% to 70% better overall life versus competitive ceramic fibre discs. GreenLyte F968 is the choice for 70% of fibre disc applications, including grinding and finishing carbon steel, cast iron, and welds.
GreenLyte F968 is available in sizes 4-1/2" x 7/8", 5" x 7/8", 7" x 7/8", and 9-1/8" x 7/8" in grit sizes 24, 36, 50, 60, 80, 100, and 120. GreenLyte Plus F986 is available in discs in sizes 4-1/2" x 7/8", 5" x 7/8", 7" x 7/8", and 9-1/8" x 7/8" in grit sizes 24, 36, 50, 60, and 80. GreenLyte Plus F986 is also available in 5-inch and 7-inch diameters with AVOS® see-thru vision technology.
