Abrasive Blast Nozzle optimizes velocity of abrasive.

Press Release Summary:

Saber Blast(TM) nozzle uses rocket propulsion concepts to maximize velocity of abrasive. Designed for conventional as well as Sponge Media(TM) abrasives, product is lined with composite of silicon carbide and silicon nitride and features anti-static, anodized aluminum sheath. Nozzle, manufactured with 1¼ in. brass thread or 50 mm aluminum contractor thread, can take G-50 steel grit exiting with pressure of 120 psi and accelerate velocity to 488 mph.

New Saber Blast(TM) Nozzle Increases Production Speed

March 30, 2005 - Portsmouth, NH - Sponge-Jet, the world leader of dry, low dust abrasive blasting offers a revolutionary breakthrough in abrasive nozzle design - the Saber Blast(TM) nozzle. The new nozzle uses rocket propulsion concepts to maximize the velocity of abrasive, allowing users to increase production speeds up to 50%. "The increase in velocity is similar to increasing the nozzle pressure 25%," explains Sponge-Jet President Michael Merritt, "We are proud to bring this technology to market because of how well it compares to conventional nozzle designs and the money it will save industry." Quantitative laboratory tests measured G-50 steel grit velocity exiting a simple straight bore nozzle, a long venturi nozzle and the Saber Blast nozzle with a nozzle pressure of 120psi. The Saber Blast nozzle increased the abrasive velocity to 488mph, 73mph faster than the conventional long venturi nozzle at 415mph, which in turn was 51mph faster than the simple straight bore nozzle at 364mph.

The nozzle, designed for conventional abrasives as well as Sponge Media(TM) abrasives, is lined with a proprietary composite of silicon carbide and silicon nitride and has an anti-static, anodized aluminum sheath. Nozzles are manufactured with a standard 1-1/4inch brass thread or a 50mm aluminum contractor thread.
