Abelcine to Represent Hybrid's Neon Trackless 3D Virtual Studio Solution in the New York Metro Area

AbelCine Sees Strong Market Demand for Neon

Montrouge, France – Hybrid, a leading provider of real-time graphics and robotic camera systems, has signed a dealer agreement with AbelCine-leading supplier of camera equipment for film, digital cinema, broadcast, and new media-o market its Hybrid Neon trackless 3D virtual studio solution in the New York metropolitan area.

While AbelCine can sell Neon from any of its three locations-New York, Chicago, and Burbank- Neon trackless virtual set system has been installed in its New York showroom to give prospective buyers an in-depth demonstration.

“Neon is a very exciting, enabling virtual studio solution because it allows customers to produce impressive, multi-camera video presentations even when they’re working in a small space, with minimal crews and tight budgets,” said Andrew Shipsides, Director of Education for AbelCine.

“As a supplier of high-end camera equipment, we can now assist our clients in creating the look and feel of a sophisticated studio environment for a fraction the price. We’re already seeing strong customer demand, including in-house corporate video studios, webcasters, as well as government, educational, and news organizations.”

The Neon trackless virtual studio solution is a user-friendly “virtual studio in a box” that simply requires software running on a PC. Rather than camera tracking and calibration technology, the Neon 3D virtual studio solution performs visual magic-hrough real-time processing of video signals from fixed cameras-o give the illusion that the cameras are moving realistically in relation to the synthetic set.

Users can either use Neon’s set design tools, or import virtual sets created using 3D Max, Maya, Softimage, or other common modeling software. Despite its comparatively low price point (under $60,000), Neon delivers photo-realistic, anti-aliased sets typical of higher-end virtual set systems.

Besides native support for up to five live HD/SD camera inputs, Neon’s dual output allows it to render two sets simultaneously from a single PC. With its latest enhancements, Neon can now be controlled by Black Magic Design’s ATEM vision mixer, as well as by Hybrid’s new Ozone app for Android phones and tablets.

“For over two decades, AbelCine has been a highly respected and trusted source for acquisition gear for demanding applications ranging from corporate video to digital cinema,” said Olivier Cohen, CEO, Hybrid. “Our agreement with AbelCine promises to be mutually beneficial since they’re already marketing products and services to video professionals for whom this powerful-yet-affordable virtual studio is a natural fit.”
