AADCO's MRI-Safe® Suspension Installation at Toranomon Hospital in Tokyo, Japan

As MRI is utilized for a broader range of diagnostic and interventional procedures, the need increases in these Labs for a greater diversity of procedure specific equipment.

As with Angiography, Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology the need for better organizing equipment, creating an ergonomically facilitative procedure area and in some instances just getting the clutter of rolling floor stands away from the area has become increasingly important.

Over three years ago AADCO Medical, Inc began designing prototype equipment, which was successfully installed for a pilot project, in an MRI Image Guided Therapy Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital, in Boston. That equipment is still in use today. AADCO went on to design its MRI-Safe® Equipment Suspensions Systems as a larger product group.

Solving early problems of combining structurally sound non-ferrous materials that would function safely in a 3 Tesla environment was among the challenges. Materials, mechanical and electrical components were combined and scrupulously tested to assure that the equipment provides adequate spring counter balance, lift and carrying strength while functioning without magnetic pull or MR image interference. AADCO's second-generation MRI-Safe® Equipment Suspension Systems now handle a range of equipment counterbalance, between 3 and 22 Kg. (6.6 to 48.4 lbs.) per arm.

Independent testing has been performed on all components of AADCO's MRI-Safe® suspensions, including AADCO's 35,000 Lux examination lamp, to 3 tesla. White paper results of the testing are available upon request.

Robert L. Marchione, President of AADCO Medical, Inc. the manufacturer of MRI-Safe® Equipment Suspensions and a 39 year veteran of both Clinical Radiology Profession and Commercial Imaging Business commented, "The scope and variety of procedures being performed in the MRI Imaging Environment has greatly expanded in recent years and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. This presents many new challenges for clinicians and equipment manufacturers who must meet their customer's needs. Answering this need, AADCO Medical, Inc, has now delivered it's MRI-Safe® Equipment Suspension Systems to clinicians in numerous countries on three continents. We are gratified that this equipment is playing a vital role helping clinicians to be more effective and efficient in performing life saving procedures. We look forward to the future and the challenges ahead."
