A10 Networks Unveils ID Series 2.2 Identity Management Appliances

Major Enhancements to IDsentrie(TM) and IDaccess(TM) Modules with Customer Driven Functionality

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 3 -- A10 Networks(R) today announced the 2.2 version upgrade to its ID Series network identity management appliances -- IDsentrie and IDaccess. Responding to its installed base of over 100 customers, A10 unveiled major enhancements to the ID Series appliances' integrated identity management modules. IDsentrie is the industry's only network identity management appliance delivering integrated features that resolve IP addresses to user identity (IP-to-ID) instantly, simplify user password management with the User Self Help Web Portal, provision user account management, and enhance RADIUS authentication and access control. IDaccess, which is an authentication and guest access appliance based on the IDsentrie platform, now includes a subset of the new ID Series 2.2 enhancements.

Key module enhancements in A10 Networks' IDsentrie appliance with the new 2.2 firmware include:

-- IP-to-ID Service:
-- MAC to ID - Providing the unique ability to take a MAC address and resolve it to a user identity (ID) from any Layer 2 device.
-- Support for Lotus Domino and additional UNIX operating systems.

-- User Self Help Web Portal:
-- Extending users' password reset capabilities via the integrated Web portal to Lotus Domino, PostgreSQL, Apple Open Directory and additional UNIX operating systems.

-- Provisioning:
-- Ability to associate disparate user IDs to a single managed user entity, simplifying complex user management.
-- New data store support for Lotus Domino, PostgreSQL, Apple Open Directory and additional forms of UNIX.

-- RADIUS Authentication:
-- Multiple scalability features, including the ability for thousands of network devices to be added simply by the network mask parameter.
-- Ability to retrieve return attributes from Microsoft Active Directory and SQL devices to be used in authentication rules.

"At Smart City we have over 3,000 wired and wireless network devices that authenticate thousands of users from convention centers all over the US," said Felix Windt, network administrator for Smart City, one of the largest suppliers of network connectivity services for convention centers in North America. "We chose A10's IDsentrie identity management appliance to replace our existing solution as it is capable of handling a vast number of authentications per second. IDsentrie's RADIUS authentication module delivers scalability, redundancy and reliability, both for incoming requests from network devices and to multiple backend data stores. We also value the timely support and integration of feature requests from the A10 team - it helps us provide superior services in the event industry."

IDsentrie's IP-to-ID Service has earned the company numerous awards, enterprise deployments and technical partnerships. A10 Networks markets IDsentrie through resellers under the A10 Networks brand, and through agreements with technical partners such as Lancope, RSA (a division of EMC), WildPackets, RetiCorp and FireScope.

IDaccess: Centralize Authentication and Access for Employees and Guests

The IDaccess appliances are all-in-one network authentication and guest access solutions that centralize authentication for both employees and guests. Based on the IDsentrie platform, the IDaccess appliances integrate RADIUS, DHCP, a guest access portal and A10's IP-to-ID Service, and are the most cost- effective, integrated network authentication and guest network access appliances in their class.

IDaccess 2.2 now includes Safari support and new features within existing modules as follows:

-- Guest Access Portal:
-- Various enhancements including administrator configurable automatic deletion of guest accounts.

-- IP-to-ID Service:
-- MAC to ID - Providing the unique ability to take a MAC address and resolve it to a user identity (ID).

-- RADIUS Authentication:
-- Ability for network devices to be added simply by using the network mask parameter.
-- Ability to retrieve return attributes from Microsoft Active Directory and SQL devices to be used in authentication rules.
-- Support for PostgreSQL and additional UNIX operating systems.

"ID Series 2.2 is an enhancement based on customer feedback across numerous verticals," said Lee Chen, founder and CEO for A10 Networks. "With major updates across all the modules within IDsentrie and IDaccess, customers of all sizes will reduce the time and resources needed for their necessary security, network operation, troubleshooting and compliance-related tasks."
