A10 Networks' New Thunder Series Receives Two Awards at Interop Tokyo for Performance Optimization and DDoS Mitigation

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- A10 Networks, Inc., the technology leader in Application Networking, today announced that its new A10 Thunder™ 6430 received two Best of Show awards at Interop Tokyo last week within the Performance Optimization and ShowNet Demonstration categories. A10 Thunder appliances are Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs) that provide Unified Application Service Gateway functionality by consolidating premium solution modules for intelligent Cloud services in the most efficient form factors.

Interop Tokyo Best of Show Awards recognize the excellence of participating companies' products, which are released or are to be released in 2013. Following the judging process by influential members of the IT industry, awards are given to the most outstanding products and services.

For the Performance Optimization category, A10 demonstrated its Thunder 6430, which achieves application throughput of 150 Gbps in a compact 1 rack unit (RU) form factor. By using a Virtual Chassis (aVCS) configuration with up to 5 Thunder 6430 appliances clustered and managed centrally, A10 achieved throughput of over 750 Gbps in 5 RUs. For the ShowNet Demonstration category, A10 demonstrated Thunder 6430's high-performance Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) solutions, with record-breaking protection in excess of 200 million SYN Flood attacks per second.

"A10's Thunder 6430 won the Performance Optimization category thanks to its clear messages including '150 Gbps in 1 RU' and 'high performance in a space-saving form factor'," said Izumi Miki, Executive Director, IT Industry Division, IT media Inc. and a judge for the Interop Tokyo 2013's Award program. "It features 40 G interfaces and supports high-speed traffic needs. We also recognized its multi-function solutions beyond load balancing."

"For the ShowNet Demonstration category, the demo of Thunder 6430's DDoS protection function created an emulated environment, in which a service provider is actually under DDoS attacks," added Miki. "This demo was visually easy to understand, with blocking unwanted traffic and accepting only necessary traffic in a normal way, contributing to winning the award. We highly valued that during the demo the appliances worked in a proper way."

"We are honored to receive two special awards for Interop Tokyo Best of Show with our Thunder 6430," said Hayato Koeda, A10 KK President and CEO, Vice President South APAC. "Our Application Delivery Controller consolidates stand-alone solutions such as Server Load Balancing, IPv6 Migration, Virtualization and Security, without license fees, and has clearly evolved into a Unified Application Service Gateway. As an industry-leading technology vendor, we look forward to continuing to provide leading-edge application networking solutions."
