A Single Solution for Engine RPM Measurement

CAS DataLoggers Provides Intelligent Automated Monitoring

CHESTERLAND OH - Engine manufacturers and designers need to measure engine RPM at high accuracy for quality control and regulatory compliance, and now CAS DataLoggers has the single solution with the new Series 3 dataTaker Industrial Data Loggers along with the CANgate Canbus to Serial Converter. The dataTaker connects to most types of commercially-available transducers to monitor engines for RPM, temperature, pressure, and more. Our dataTaker dataloggers are built with a rugged construction for years of operation and are now offered at a cost-effective price.

Our dataTaker DT82I industrial data logger provides an extensive array of features enabling use in a wide variety of applications such as machine monitoring, research and development, vehicle testing, and other automotive applications. The DT82I is a robust, stand alone, low power data logger featuring USB memory stick support, 18 bit resolution measurements, extensive communications capabilities and built-in display.

The data logger's Dual Channel concept allows up to 4 isolated or 6 common referenced analog inputs to be used in many combinations. The universal inputs allow measurement of almost any type of sensor including thermocouples, RTD's, thermistors, and strain gauges as well as logging voltage, process current, resistance and frequency. Digital I/O channels and high speed counters can be used to monitor equipment status or to count events or pulses. The dataTaker forms a totally self-contained solution with support for Modbus sensors and SCADA systems, FTP and Web interfaces, and switchable, regulated outputs to power sensors. Additionally, dataTaker loggers are world-famous for their rugged construction lasting over years of constant operation.

With the standard unit able to store up to 10 million data points, as much or as little data can be recorded as needed. Users can overwrite or stop logging once allocated memory is full, archive data on alarm event, copy to USB memory or transfer via FTP. Communication features for the DT82I industrial data logger include connecting locally via USB, RS232 or Ethernet, or connecting remotely through a modem or over the Internet. The web interface allows users to configure the DT82I, access logged data and see current measurements as mimics or in a list using a web browser. FTP provides data via the internet or mobile phone network, without the need for polling or specific host software.

Additionally, our dataTaker CANgate CAN to ASCII gateway filters and converts CAN (Controller Area Network) and GPS (Global Positioning System) data to serial ASCII data. The gateway captures the real-time data available on CAN and GPS networks (e.g. temperatures, RPM, brake/throttle settings, latitude, longitude, speed etc.) and passes that engine monitoring information onto a dataTaker data logger or host computer system. Two CAN interface ports are included, which allow connection of two independent CAN networks. The CANgate's versatile configuration options allow users to select the parameters of interest, apply statistical functions (average, minimum, maximum) and control the format in which data are returned. The CANgate also supports widely used protocols such as ISO-15765 and SAE-J1939, as well as raw CAN frames.

FREE graphical interface software is built-in with dataTaker data loggers. dEX is a user-friendly resource allowing users to quickly configure the datalogger and view real-time measurements, calculations, and diagnostic information. Users can also see their real-time data as mimics, trend charts or tables, and retrieve historical data for analysis. Users get a quick start on compliance since dEX has no applications to install, runs directly from a web browser, and can be accessed either locally or remotely anywhere that a TCP/IP connection is available.
