A/D Converters sample images at high speeds.

Press Release Summary:

SPT7864 and SPT7866 10-bit CMOS analog-to-digital converters sample at 40 and 60 MSPS, respectively, making them suitable for CCD imaging, video digitizing, and medical imaging applications. Both have good linearity, including DLE of ±0.5 LSB and ILE of ±0.6 LSB at full sampling speed. They have built-in sleep mode with typical power dissipation of 55 mW, and both allow user to choose between high-accuracy internal or external references.

Signal Processing Technologies Announces New Pair Of 10-Bit High-Speed A/D Converters

SPT7864 and SPT7866 sample at 40 and 60 MSPS with excellent performance for demanding imaging applications COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - Dec 17, 2001 - Signal Processing Technologies, Inc. (SPT), a leader in high-speed, high-performance data converter design and manufacturing, today announced a new pair of 10-bit CMOS analog-to-digital converters performing at 40 and 60 MSPS, the SPT7864/66.

The SPT7864 and SPT7866 provide excellent linearity: DLE ±0.5 LSB and ILE ±0.6 LSB at full sampling speed. The AC performance is also very good, with 9.5 effective number of bits (ENOB) at an input frequency of 10 MHz. "Such performance should make these parts a perfect choice for demanding imaging applications such as CCD imaging, video digitizing, and medical imaging.' said Olav Lindquist, SPT Marketing Manager. In many of these applications it is important to be able to shut down the converter when not in use to save on overall system power. The SPT7864 and SPT7866 have a built-in sleep mode feature with typical power dissipation of only 55 mW.

The SPT7864 and SPT7866 allow the user to choose between high-accuracy internal or external references. The external reference option provides excellent gain and offset matching when used in multi-channel applications like medical imaging. or in applications where full-scale range adjustment is required, such as in measurement equipment.

The outputs of the SPT7864 and SPT7866 have the flexibility to be driven by separate supplies ranging from +3 V to +5 V. This feature makes it possible to drive the parts' TTL/CMOS- compatible outputs with the user's logic supply.

Pricing and Availability
The SPT7864 and SPT7866 are available in a single grade over the 0 to +70 degrees C commercial temperature range, in a small 28-lead SSOP package. Samples, evaluation boards, and production quantities are available now. The SPT7864 (40 MSPS) sells for $8.70 each in quantities of 500. The SPT7866 (60 MSPS) sells for $11.90 each in quantities of 500. Signal Processing Technologies, Inc.
