A Century of Firsts: Edison's Brainchild Advancing the Future at 100th RSNA

- Empowering clinicians with a new magical MRI workflow solution, comprehensive breast health portfolio and integrated healthcare IT environment

- GE Healthcare is the only company to attend inaugural and centennial RSNA meetings

CHICAGO - For more than 100 years, GE Healthcare's (NYSE: GE) pioneering innovations have enabled clinicians to deliver quality, affordable and accessible care. At this year's centennial Radiological Society of North America (#RSNA14) meeting, GE Healthcare is celebrating its legacy of transformational leadership while showcasing a re-imagination of healthcare solutions, including a one-and-done magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, one-stop breast care solution and an all-in-one integrated healthcare IT environment.

"As the only company to attend RSNA in both 1914 and 2014, GE is proud of its commitment to the healthcare industry," said John Flannery, president and CEO of GE Healthcare. "For over a hundred years, we have been passionately dedicated to one goal: helping clinicians best serve their patients."

Since the first RSNA, GE Healthcare has supported clinicians with many medical industry landmarks, including:

--  One hundred years of X-ray, 50 years of mammography and 30 years of MRI

        and ultrasound.

--  The world's first X-ray fluoroscopy, first high-field MRI to market and

        first commercial mammography technology.

--  The first ever portable 4D fetal ultrasound; first multi-slice computed

tomography (CT); and first to market with a single, unified

radiology/cardiology picture archiving and communications solution

        (PACS).

One-and-done MRI

GE Healthcare's new 510(k) pending SIGNA(*) Pioneer 3.T MRI system with MAGiC is designed to enable clinicians to scan one more patient, every hour, every day(1). Developed in collaboration with SyntheticMR AB, MAGiC is engineered to help clinicians capture six image contrasts in a single scan in one-third the time - an industry first in workflow efficiency. With MAGiC, clinicians can manipulate images and change contrasts post scan. That's like changing the focus on an image you already took with your digital camera - meaning fewer re-scans, less time wasted and no more regrets when it comes to contrast use.

One stop breast care

Fifty years ago, GE Healthcare introduced mammography to the world. Today, GE Healthcare is bringing to life one solution in breast health that aims to adapt to each woman's individual risk factors. SenoClaire*, a leading 3D breast tomosynthesis solution, helps clinicians find cancers in women with all types of breast tissue. Invenia Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) is the only technology approved by the FDA for screening the 40 percent of American women who have dense breast tissue and catches on average 27 percent more cancers than mammography alone(2). The solution aims to help clinicians provide a more rapid and clearer diagnosis.

One IT solution

GE Healthcare's new Centricity* Solutions for Enterprise Imaging is breaking down clinical sharing barriers with the power of data and analytics. In today's world of imaging, obtaining and sharing an image is relatively easy; the hard part is marrying the relevant imaging information to the workflow, especially as images are shared across multiple sites and systems.

Centricity Solutions for Enterprise Imaging delivers a common viewing, analytics and vendor-neutral archiving experience across specialties. Designed to support multiple care-specific workflows and offer clinicians the ability to work independent of location, GE Healthcare can now provide healthcare organizations with the tools they need to build collaborative care networks. Built on a common technology platform and leveraging industry standards, Centricity Solutions for Enterprise Imaging offers a modular, yet integrated solutions approach to unify imaging data. It connects acute, ambulatory and multi-specialty imaging needs with care pathway-specific workflows to help enhance diagnostic speed and confidence.
