A/C Electronics Enclosure Coolers conserve compressed air use.

Press Release Summary:

Providing protection for electrical and electronic components, Vortex A/C Enclosure Cooler models 7770, 7670, and 7570 offer 5,000 BTU/hr cooling capacity and employ 2-stage cooling system that helps conserve compressed air. Only first cooling stage is used during regular usage, but second cooling stage is activated when cooling demand increases. Additionally, model 7570 is designed for hazardous locations and UL Classified for use in Class I, Div 2; Class II, Div 2; and Class III areas.

ITW Vortec Awarded U.S. Patent for Two-Stage Enclosure Coolers

Patented features reduce compressed air usage and improve efficiency while offering superior protection for electrical and electronic components.

Cincinnati, OH – ITW Vortec, developer of innovative air technologies, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has awarded U.S. Patent 8,402,773 covering Vortec’s unique two-stage cooling system Vortex A/C Enclosure Coolers.

The newly patented Vortex A/C Enclosure Coolers, models 7770, 7670 and 7570, are large enclosure coolers with a cooling capacity of 5000 BTU/hour. These coolers have a unique two-stage cooling system designed to conserve compressed air. During regular usage, the coolers utilize only the first cooling stage. However, when there is increased demand for cooling, whether due to high heat load in the enclosure, high ambient manufacturing facility temperatures, or hot weather conditions, the second cooling stage is activated. The Vortex A/C Enclosure Cooler model 7570 has the additional advantage of being designed for hazardous locations (HazLoc), and UL Classified for use in most Class I, Div 2, Class II, Div 2 and Class III areas.

Vortec Engineering Manager Steve Broerman, listed as the inventor of the patented Vortex A/C Enclosure Coolers, said “Numerous customers operating in a broad spectrum of manufacturing environments expressed the need for an efficient cooling system for large enclosures during our discussions with them. It is gratifying that the Vortec engineering team was able to develop this innovative solution to address those needs.”

Barbara Stefl, General Manager of ITW Air Management, a division of Illinois Tool Works and Vortec parent company, stated “I cannot be more pleased that the years of research and innovation by the Vortec team have been rewarded with this patent. The Patent Office has recognized the novel way that Vortec’s air technology enhances working conditions and safety in manufacturing environments where cooling is of the utmost concern.”

The newly patented products are part of the family of Vortex A/C Enclosure Coolers that are novel in that they are 70% quieter than traditional vortex enclosure coolers. The company also has a patent pending on features used in all the HazLoc Vortex A/C models.
