PEP Introduces 6U Workstation Designed For Harsh Environments



Pittsburgh, PA, March 2002 - PEP Modular Computers, Inc., a leading manufacturer of low power, high performance CompactPCI and VME single-board computers (SBCs) and systems, recently introduced OptiMation, a ruggedized 6U workstation designed to
provide trouble-free operation around-the-clock in harsh industrial environments.

Users can choose from a variety of drives, industrial I/Os and operating systems, making the OptiMation extremely versatile. Applications include industrial communications, Fieldbus, system control, process control, data acquisition, visualizations and test and measurement.

OptiMation features an Intel Pentium III up to 1 GHz and a Celeron® 566 MHz processor. In addition, the unit comes equipped with up to 768 MB SDRAM as well as a 10-slot backplane that can accommodate up to eight expansion slots - 4 PCI full-size and 4 ISA full-size. The all-new workstation has a 5.25" drive bay, 3.5" drive bay and one internal HDD.

Also included is a 12" display XVGA; receptable air filter; NEMA 4X/IP 65 frontplate; and C-drive supports. Front accessible drives that accept FDD/CD-ROM, CD-RW or DVD are also featured. The workstation's power supply is available in both ATX300W AC
and ATX300W DC 24 V. The input voltage for the AC version is 100 to 240 V AC, and 18 to 36 V DC for the 24 V DC version.

This rack-mounted, 6.0" H x 19.0" W x 6.8" D unit has a compact mounting depth of 11.8" as well as an all-steel case, resistant to shock, vibrations, high temperatures, dust and water.

Pricing for the OptiMation starts at $2,200. Delivery is 4-6 weeks ARO.
