SunRay Scientific Launches NANOGLOW(TM) Conductive Silver Inks for Roll-to-Roll Printing of Electronics
Mount Laurel, NJ - SunRay Scientific, a leader in solutions for flex circuit and printed electronics manufacturing, announced today that it is launching NANOGLOW(TM) water-based, nano-silver inks for roll-to-roll printing of conductive traces on low temperature substrates such as polyester and paper. The NANGLOW(TM) products are designed for flexographic/gravure printing and will be complementary to SunRay's existing MAXIGLOW(TM) portfolio of silver/carbon inks, dielectrics, and epoxies which are designed for screen printing of membrane switches, and other printed electronics applications.

Printed electronics refers to electronic devices created by printing methods such as screen printing, flex printing and has multiple end user applications in displays, sensors, photovoltaics, medical diagnostics etc. The manufacture of fully printed electronic devices requires conductive, dielectric and semiconductor inks and growth in printed electronics is expected to drive tremendous growth in the ink market. According to IdTechEx, the market for printed and potentially printed electronics will rise from $1.9 billion in 2009 to $57 billion in 2019.
"Unlike conventional thick film silver inks, the nanosilver in the NANOGLOW(TM) sinters during curing which results in five times lower sheet resistivity. The lower sheet resistivity enables our customers to use less silver ink for conductive traces which results in lower cost," said Joe Mazzochette, Chief Technology Officer at SunRay Scientific. "In addition, the curing temperatures are comparatively lower which is conducive for processing on low temperature substrates such as plastic and paper and the nanometer size of the silver enables finer lines and spaces. We expect that the cost, throughput and processing benefits of of NANOGLOW(TM) will enable electronics manufacturers to process more devices using printing methods and accelerate the adoption of printed electronic products."
