4Connections Delivers Fast and Secure Dark Fiber Services to New Jersey's Electronic Financial Exchange Carriers

Described as a 'Win for New Jersey'

ELIZABETH, N.J., Oct. 18 // -- 4Connections, a New Jersey and New York metro lit and dark fiber provider, announces today the successful completion of a dark fiber network rollout that connects a vital, developing area in Northern New Jersey to New York City and other metro markets around the globe. This route is advantageous to the national and international financial exchange firms who require secure backhaul from lower Manhattan. The network deployment was completed ahead of schedule as a result of the consistent cooperation among 4Connections and partners Public Service Electric & Gas, and Yipes Enterprise Services Inc., a global provider of managed, end- to-end Ethernet solutions for enterprise customers.

The project is part of an economic redevelopment program in Carteret, NJ. The private network build-out is attractive to financial and data exchange companies who need backhaul solutions to Wall Street, a viable real estate market and tax incentive opportunities. The new communications infrastructure also allows the firms to take control over their own network; once the enterprise has access to a key carrier hotel, the firm can then select a variety of carriers able to deliver new services at competitive rates.

The successful network completion was highly attributable to the cooperation among private companies and New Jersey's largest and oldest public utility. "PSE&G provided right-of-way access that was critical to keeping us on schedule and within budget," said Vincenzo Clemente, 4Connections' Director of Right of Way and Construction. "PSE&G's cooperation allowed us to avoid easement issues that often plague projects of similar size and scale."

"We are pleased to help 4Connections as it continues to deploy the necessary network to increase job opportunities and business growth in Northern New Jersey," said Robert Gibbs, manager of corporate properties at PSE&G.

Furthermore, Yipes' innovative engineering and 4Connections' fiber ring construction expertise allowed both firms to deliver a solution that exceeded customer expectations. "Reliable, secure and redundant connections are vital to the success of any solution designed for financial exchange carriers" commented John Panzica, General Manager of Financial Services for Yipes. "4Connections and Yipes provided the perfect combination of resources to fulfill these requirements."

Political and financial decision makers have described this network rollout as a 'win for New Jersey business'; the new network infrastructure is part of a recent run of economic development projects in Northern New Jersey. The area is now home to the world's largest international data exchange, as well as many financial services companies and data providers.
