TYZX Announces TYZX PersonTrack® 3D Vision System for Surveillance, Retail and Interactive Entertainment Applications

New Platform Provides High Precision, Scalable Networks To Track People and Moving Objects in the Real World

MENLO PARK, Calif., Oct. 16 -- TYZX, Inc., the 3D vision company, today announced TYZX PersonTrack(R), a commercial platform that allows developers to quickly create high-precision, scalable, real time systems that track people and objects for retail, surveillance and interactive entertainment applications.

TYZX PersonTrack can simultaneously track large numbers of individuals and objects to a precise floor plan grid measured in centimeters -- even in environments that are crowded and have variable lighting. The exceptional performance of the PersonTrack system is due to each TYZX G2 camera's ability to perceive the world in three dimensions -- readily transforming confusing 2D images into structured 3D locations of people in real time.

TYZX PersonTrack uses an advanced, distributed computing architecture to build highly scalable tracking networks ranging from small projects with only a few cameras to large multi-room or even multi-building systems. By using networks of TYZX G2 Embedded Vision Systems -- smart, Internet Protocol (IP) stereo vision cameras -- the processing workload is distributed throughout the network instead of centralized in the back office.

"Our advances in distributed 3D vision technology, along with advances in embedded processing and CMOS imagers, now make it practical to deploy robust 3D solutions where before only 2D systems were available," said Ron Buck, CEO of TYZX. "Organizations as varied as retail, airports, train stations, museums and government agencies can now take advantage of robust, real-time person tracking systems without overwhelming their budgets."

Electroland, an artistic group that creates comprehensive, multi-disciplinary urban projects, used TYZX technology in two of its recent, high profile projects. It used networks of TYZX G2 cameras running PersonTrack in interactive displays on the observation deck of Rockefeller Center, and in the main entry staircase of the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, both in New York City.

"TYZX technology allows us to generically track individual people in both small and large spaces. Interactions among individuals have no effect upon its tracking abilities," said Damon Seeley, Electroland. "Although our particular applications are primarily for entertainment purposes, the very same high precision person tracking technology can also be used in retail environments, as well as for homeland security and other surveillance and defense-related applications."

PersonTrack consists of one or more TYZX G2 Embedded Vision systems, a central Moderator software system that collects real-time tracking results from the G2 cameras, PersonTrack Control console software, and PersonTrack API -- an application programming interface used to integrate PersonTrack data output with other IT systems.

PersonTrack is now generally available from TYZX. Customers can purchase additional sets of G2 cameras to scale to networks of various sizes. For more information, please visit http://www.tyzx.com/.
