Discovery Semiconductors Introduces 25G to 28G Clock and Data Recovery (CDR) Lab Buddy for Test and Measurement Applications
Discovery Semiconductors Introduces 25G Clock and Data Recovery (CDR) Lab Buddy for Test and Measurement applications. Discovery’s reference-free 1:1 CDR Lab Buddy, conveniently interfaces with the Bit Error Rate (BER) test equipment and provides a Receive, Reshape, & Retime (3R) solution, which is especially important for 25G SFP and 100G QSFP transmission experiments.
“Discovery Semiconductors has offered the 25G CDR bundled with our 25G optical receivers since 2012. However, a stand-alone CDR with its GUI is now being offered to wider markets such as Infiniband EDR and CEI 25G/28G,“ commented Mr. Aaron Berry, Sr. Global Sales Engineer.
This state-of-the-art instrument contains several features to enhance its flexibility. The CDR has been configured for variable data rate operation ranging from 24.8Gb/s to 28.3Gb/s. The CDR can be operated at sub-rates of /2, /4, /8 & /16 over the full rate operating range listed above. Additionally, the CDR can be utilized as a Clock Multiplying Unit (CMU) where a sub-rate clock can be multiplied up to 24.8GHz to 28.3GHz.
Additional features include adjustable input equalization, output data de-emphasis & polarity inversion, adjustable clock & data output amplitude, selectable recovered clock output rate ranging from full rate to /128 in binary steps, with optional independently adjustable vertical & horizontal input data decision thresholds. The CDR output can be configured to generate a PRBS-9 data signal & the input can be used as a PRBS-9 checker. The CDR provides Loss of Signal (LOS) & Loss of Signal Lock (LOSL) indicators. The LOS has an adjustable threshold with adjustable hysteresis.
Discovery Semiconductors, Inc., established in 1993, is an industry leader in manufacturing ultrafast, broadband (800 nm - 2200 nm) high optical power handling InGaAs photodetectors, optical receivers, balanced optical receivers, PAM-4 linear optical receivers, Coherent receivers, and wideband RF amplifiers for 10G through 400G applications. In addition, Discovery offers its complete photodetector and CDR product line in its plug-and-play Lab Buddy instrumentation platform.
