2008 World of Concrete Exhibit Features Three Different Sizes of Laser Screed® Equipment Plus New Pervious Concrete Head

New Mini Screed(TM) joins CopperHead® XD(TM) 3.0 and SXP® Laser Screed in bringing
laser-controlled accuracy to concrete placement and finishing.

LAS VEGAS-The Somero Enterprises, Inc. booth (C5612) at this year's World of Concrete trade show is double in size from last year in order to showcase its full line of concrete placing and finishing equipment. In addition to launching the Mini Screed this year-the smallest of the three Laser Screed machines-Somero is also debuting the first-ever Laser Screed head designed exclusively to handle pervious concrete.

"The emphasis on 'Green' construction and technology at this year's show makes this the perfect venue to introduce the pervious head," said Howard Hohmann, vice president of sales for North America. "Somero is proud to be part of this effective means to address environmental issues and support green, sustainable growth," said Hohmann. Pervious concrete is porous and allows storm water to seep back into the ground meeting the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) storm water regulations.

Somero engineers ran the 12' pervious head attachment to the large SXP Laser Screed through extensive testing during the past six months to ensure its compatibility with the distinct characteristics of pervious concrete. Partnering with Dale Fisher, president and CEO of PCI Systems LLC that deals exclusively with pervious concrete, the pervious head was put to the test screeding thousands of square feet of pervious concrete. It has been used to screed pervious parking lots in South Carolina and Georgia before its unveiling at World of Concrete.

Along with the line of Laser Screed equipment, other products on display at the Somero booth include:
o The PowerRake(TM) 2.0 with its quieter yet more powerful engine, enabling a single operator to rake more concrete in less time, with no manual labor
o The HoseHog(TM), a self-propelled machine designed to pick-up and move heavy slick line hose around a pour site
o Specialty Pans that attach to slick line hoses at the joining clamps allowing hoses to glide over mesh and steel without interference

Somero Enterprises, leaders in concrete leveling, contouring and placing equipment, was founded on innovation that makes the concrete placement process easier, more productive, and more profitable. Its innovation continues to make the concrete construction job site more and more productive.
