11th sercos PlugFest Successfully Completed

sercos international, supplier of the sercos® automation bus, welcomed a number of technology and automation vendors on May 15 and 16 to its 11th sercos PlugFest at the Institute for Control Engineering of Machine Tools and Manufacturing (ISW) at the University of Stuttgart, Germany.

During the two-day event, many new sercos products from competing vendors were intensively tested with each other to insure users of interoperability of sercos products. Products included controls (CNC, RC, Motion Controls, PLCs), electrical and pneumatic I/O systems, servo drives and sensor technology. Newly developed slave devices were also successfully tested Armin Egner, technical leader of the sercos Steering Comittee (SSC) and responsible for the coordination of this event, was very pleased with the positive feedback of all participants. He stated,  "The 11th PlugFest was fully successful in terms of numbers of particpants and devices as well as in the variety of devices tested. These cover functions that have strongly been requested by the sercos user community. This event is also the ideal platform to test newly specified functions for compatibility with devices designed to previous specification versions."

"This is always a highly useful event for all participants," agrees Peter Lutz, Managing Director of sercos international. "Participants can exchange and build upon ideas during these informal and uncomplicated sessions. The manufacturer-independent approach and high level of standardization of sercos technology enables the interoperability of sercos III devices from various vendors."

The 12th sercos PlugFest is scheduled for October 23 - 24, 2013 at ISW in Stuttgart.
