The newly re-designed Micro OWL 2 optical power meter offers several new enhancements, including a more user-friendly menu system, user-flashable firmware, auto-wavelength switching, and an optional integrated precision-coupled visual fault locator (PCVFL).
When bundled with OWLs NIST-traceable multimode or singlemode light sources, the 10-Gig Micro OWL 2 is one of the world's smallest and most accurate hand-held optical power meters to offer standards-based certification of 10-Gigabit Ethernet fiber links, able to display 10-Gig PASS/FAIL results right in the field. By comparing optical loss measurements to industry-standard requirements, fiber optic link certification ensures that the link has sufficient safety margin to support the application for which it was intended. Certification reports prove the quality of the fiber installation, and are also required by many cable manufacturer warranties.
In addition to 10-Gig certification, the Micro OWL 2 is configured to test many other types of fiber networks, including Fiber To The Home (FTTH), TIA-568-B.3, plus many others.
