Aurora Flight Sciences recently announced plans to add 135 new jobs to its Manassas, Virginia facility. The new jobs are part of a $13.75 million expansion to the company’s headquarters that will be used as a robotics and integration facility. The company is well-known for its unmanned aircraft and autonomous flight technology.
The new Manassas facility will include a manufacturing unit, a research and development lab, a hangar, and office space. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the City of Manassas to provide a $500,000 grant from the state’s Opportunity Fund. The aerospace manufacturer will also be eligible for tax exemptions associated with the purchase and use of new manufacturing equipment, as well as a Major Business Facility Job Tax Credit.
Funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program. Aurora also has U.S. production facilities in Bridgeport, West Virginia and Columbus, Mississippi, along with research and development centers in Dayton, Ohio, Cambridge, Massachusetts and Menlo Park, California.
Aurora Flight Sciences is part of the Boeing Group and has been located in Manassas for 27 years.
