The $4k Customized Tesla iPhone

Caviar, as it relates to this story, is a company known for taking mobile phones and watches, as well as many of the accessories that can accompany them, to more, shall we say, glamorous heights. Their latest undertaking is the iPhone X Tesla smartphone. Featuring a non-removable carbon and gold-plated case, it’s one of the most expensive iPhones you can buy. It even comes with a separate wooden carrying case.

But despite the luxurious enclosure, the crown jewels of the phone are a built-in solar battery and shock-resistant solar charging panel that can be used with the sun or bright lights to charge the phone.

The unit pays homage to Elon Musk’s company and the apparent appreciation for sustainable energy. It even carries the engraving “Made on Earth by humans" — the same phrase that was printed on the circuit board of a Tesla Roadster that Musk sent into space earlier this year aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.

The only problem with the elaborate design is that the case is so thick, the camera on the back of the phone actually becomes recessed inside the case. That must not be an issue, however, as initial plans only called for production of 99 of the units, but demand has pushed that number to 999, each of which will be individually numbered and available for purchase on the company’s website at prices ranging from $4,000 to $4,900.

Of course, the very first model will be sent to Elon Musk.
