Specialty Vehicle Manufacturer Expands to North Carolina

A California manufacturer of specialty vehicles for laboratory and telecommunications services will establish its first East Coast location in North Carolina.

State economic officials said the E-N-G Mobile Systems facility in Fayetteville will include design and manufacturing operations. The $2.3 million project is expected to create 60 jobs.

The company, headquartered in northern California, produces vehicles for remote broadcasting, mobile laboratories, wireless communications, radio frequency testing, and utility and emergency response personnel. E-N-G officials cited North Carolina’s skilled workforce and potential partnerships in its decision to expand to the state.

“We hope to be a positive contributor to the economic well-being of North Carolina and Cumberland County as our future unfolds,” Craig Vanderwagen, the company’s principal director, said in the announcement.

The company expects to begin operations in Fayetteville by late 2019.

The E-N-G project will be supported by a $180,000 state grant, which will be matched by local governments, provided it meets hiring and capital investment thresholds. The company will also receive a package for job training from the state’s community college system.
