Roofing Mfr. Investing $13M to Expand Indiana Plant

New Albany, Indiana-based Progressive Materials recently announced plans to expand its manufacturing facility. The $13.4 million project will also create 25 new jobs at the 100,000-square-foot plant and corporate headquarters. Scheduled for completion by the end of 2019, the new facility will house manufacturing operations, a warehouse, a distribution center, sales and marketing offices, and quality control labs.

In addition to providing more manufacturing space, the investment will cover important automation upgrades that the company feels will help ensure long-term competitiveness. A growing customer base and escalated demand for the company’s line of silicone roofing products are driving the need for the expansion.

Progressive Materials, which was founded in 2011, will begin looking for electrical and operator technicians, silicone-specialized chemists, and administrative associates. The new positions are expected to provide starting salaries above the county and state average.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation is also providing the company with up to $240,000 in tax credits, but Progressive will not be eligible to claim them until the promised positions are filled by Indiana residents. Additional tax incentives will also be considered by the New Albany City Council over the coming months.
