Resin Manufacturer Breaks Ground on New Headquarters

A New Jersey resin manufacturer expects to add 135 jobs next year after opening a new corporate headquarters near Philadelphia.

ResinTech officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility in Camden, New Jersey, on Monday, according to WHYY.

The company, which produces resins for water treatment, sought a new headquarters after outgrowing its current home in West Berlin, New Jersey, some 15 miles to the southeast. The company reportedly considered relocating to the southern U.S. but ultimately selected the site in Camden after receiving a tax incentive package worth $139 million from New Jersey’s economic development agency in 2016.

ResinTech plans to qualify for the tax breaks by bringing in 265 employees from West Berlin and additional sites in Maryland and Pennsylvania, but company officials expect to promptly bolster the Camden workforce to 400.

In addition, as many as 50 employees could work at another ResinTech facility planned nearby.

ResinTech and Camden officials each expressed hope that the addition of hundreds of new jobs would bring much-needed development to the city. CEO Jeffrey Gottlieb said that, ideally, the project would lead to an overhaul of the entire neighborhood on Camden’s east side.

“I would love to see reinvestment here, I’d love to see retail here, I’d love to see a place to get a cup of coffee on the corner,” he told the network.
