Motion Industries, a $5 billion industrial MRO distributor based out of Birmingham, Alabama, has announced plans to open a 62,000-square-foot distribution center in Auburn, Washington later this spring. Motion, which was founded in 1946, is a subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company, which also owns the chain of NAPA auto parts stores.
The new location will primarily serve 24 branch locations in the Pacific Northwest, but also back up the company’s 600 other sales, service, and distribution facilities with more than seven million unique parts and supplies that include bearings, power transmission products, fluid power components, electrical parts, and safety supplies.
The new distribution center is seen as a strategic location to develop quicker fulfillment for customers in the Pacific Northwest. It will complement current North American distribution centers in Birmingham, Tracy, CA, Chicago, Baltimore, Dallas, Edmonton, AB, and Lachine, QC.
Motion’s customers span a number of industries, including food and beverage, pulp and paper, iron and steel, chemical, mining, petrochemical, automotive, construction, and pharmaceutical processing.
