Defense contractor Cobham plans to invest $67 million in its Iowa facility and add 150 jobs to the plant’s workforce, company officials said recently.
The company’s Carleton Life Support Systems subsidiary in Davenport designs, manufactures, and evaluates aerospace systems for the military, including respiratory, restraint, and cooling technologies.
The Iowa Economic Development Association on Friday announced the approval of nearly $30 million in financial assistance and tax incentives to support the renovation of the facility on the city’s northwest side over the next three years.
IEDA officials said the project would expand both its workforce and production capacity, and the company told Davenport officials earlier in the week that the expansion could eventually accommodate up to 1,300 employees and support a revamped research and development operation.
The new jobs would add to 170 recent hires — including 50 new engineers — Cobham vice president and general manager Kevin McKeown told the Quad-City Times.
