A contract medical equipment manufacturer plans to add more capacity and 43 new jobs near its existing facility in western Michigan.
Medbio received a $180,000 grant from the Michigan Business Development Program for the $3.5 million project, which would renovate storage space across the street to enable additional assembly and packaging operations.
Michigan economic development officials said rapid growth in the company’s cleanroom injection molding business is straining the capacity of its current manufacturing facility in Cascade Township, outside Grand Rapids. The town also offered a property tax abatement to support the project.
Eric Icard, who led the initiative for regional economic development group The Right Place, said the company "continues to be one of West Michigan’s most successful medical contract manufacturers."
