A 46-year-old man died last week when he was struck in the head while working on a machine at Berry Plastics. The incident happened at a plastic fabrication facility in Phillipsburg, NJ.
According to local authorities, Noel Oquendo, an operator at Berry, was working on a machine used to print labels on plastic bottles when he sustained blunt force trauma to his head while tending to a problem on the machine.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was contacted and had sent personnel to the scene. The OSHA investigation will look into the cause of the industrial accident and see if it could have been prevented.
Berry Plastics released a statement after the accident. It stated, "The company extends its sincere condolences to the family, friends and coworkers of our employee."
