A New England machine tool manufacturer could bring dozens of new jobs to a town in Maine.
On Monday, the Portland Press Herald reported that a recent public notice outlined a proposal from Harvey Performance Co. to build a 76,000-square-foot facility in Gorham, Maine, just west of Portland, Maine.
The preliminary filing did not indicate how many workers could be housed at the new factory, but the paper noted that the proposal did seek to accommodate 170 parking spots.
Harvey Performance Co., based in Massachusetts, is the parent company of Helical Solutions, which it acquired in 2015. Both the Harvey and Helical brands offer carbide end mills and cutting tools for the metalworking sector.
The new building would reportedly be located on the site of a former racetrack now owned by businessman and 2018 gubernatorial candidate Shawn Moody. An informational meeting about the project is slated for next week, the Press Herald added.
