Jason Industries Acquires Finishing Products Maker Schaffner

Wisconsin-based manufacturer Jason Industries this week announced its acquisition of polishing and finishing products maker Schaffner Manufacturing for $11 million in cash.

Jason officials said the addition of Schaffner’s applications for flap wheels, buffing wheels, and buffing compounds would expand its existing polishing product operations. Schaffner is headquartered in Pittsburgh and operates manufacturing facilities in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Mississippi.

The company serves numerous industries and reported annual sales of about $20 million, Jason officials said in a statement.

Jason CEO Brian Kobylinski said Schaffner “has a long history as a market leader” and would fit “with our strategy to grow our industrial business.”

The newly acquired operations will be incorporated within Jason’s Osborn finishing subsidiary, which produces brushes and buffs as well as abrasives, compounds, and rollers.

Jason’s subsidiaries also include components manufacturer Metalex, seating maker Milsco, and automotive acoustics provider Janesville Acoustics.
