In following the time-honored tradition of skipping past the question of "why?" and going right to "why didn’t this happen sooner?", Texas-based Hennessey Performance Engineering recently unveiled a six-wheeled version of the new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado.
Aptly named the Goliath, the team at HPE took a Trail Boss Z71 – a model already designed for off-road expeditions – and added a third axle and additional pair of wheels. A new rear suspension system and 8” lift also ensure the Goliath is ready to roll over whatever is foolish enough to get in its way.
Additionally, the 6.2-liter V8 engine is now complimented by a 2.9-liter supercharger that bumps the horsepower from 420 to 705 and torque from 460 to 675 foot-pounds. This gives the Goliath a 0-to-60 time in the mid-four second range – something most Camaros would be happy to hit. A custom grill, stainless steel exhaust system, LED lighting, and a roll bar are also part of the modifications.
The good and bad of the Goliath is that it’s not just a concept or one-off tuner vehicle. It’s been approved by Chevrolet and can be obtained through their dealers or directly from Hennessey. Furthermore, the trucks are covered by a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty.
However, there will only be 24 of the vehicles made and each one carries a price tag of $375,000, or about 5 times that of a traditional Silverado Trail Boss.
