Healthcare Growth Brings 100 New Mfg. Jobs to Ohio

The increased demand for new healthcare products has led California-based Hardy Diagnostics to add 40,000 square feet of production and warehousing space at its Springboro, Ohio facility. The company manufactures products for microbiology testing in research labs ranging from food and pharmaceutical to medical and biological products. In addition to nearly doubling the size of the facility, the company plans on hiring between 75 and 100 new employees over the next three years.

The company’s expansion in Ohio stems from continued growth in the healthcare sector, as well as a combination of Ohio's regulatory demands, tax structure, and housing costs being more accommodating than that of their home state of California. Additionally, the two companies that sterilize and package the products which Hardy Diagnostics manufactures are located in nearby Lebanon and Columbus.

Since opening the Springboro facility seven years ago, the company has grown from six employees and could potentially reach 180. The expansion will also provide more cleanroom space needed for the development of new products. The expansion is set to be conducted in phases, with a projected finish date at the end of 2019.
