Dynetics to Debut New Advanced Manufacturing Center

An Alabama defense contractor this week introduced a new advanced manufacturing center that will house more than 200 workers.

Dynetics said the 78,000-square foot Dr. Stephen M. Gilbert Advanced Manufacturing Facility, named for the company’s co-founder, is the sixth building at its headquarters in Huntsville. Company officials said the space allows government and private-sector customers to complete final assembly and testing of products ranging from small parts to complete weapons systems.

David King, the company’s chief executive officer, said the Gilbert building would be able to manufacture a smaller quantity of products efficiently. The company added that the complex would enable customers to move from design to production in one location while increasing its production volume and classified manufacturing offerings.

"We kept hearing that there was not a one-stop-shop where a project could be designed, prototyped, and manufactured,” King said in a statement. "We decided to put our mark on this ability.”

In addition to final assembly space, the building will feature four major production areas, including electronics manufacturing, automotive configuration and testing, surveillance sensor production, and cable harness operations for the aerospace and defense segments.
