Golden, Colorado-based CoorsTek, Inc. recently announced plans to expand their facility in Benton, Arkansas. The $26 million, 50,000 square-foot-expansion will add to the current facility’s 150,000 square feet, which houses more than 200 employees. Approximately 30 new jobs will also be created.
The manufacturer of technical ceramic components will be adding several pieces of advanced manufacturing equipment to support the ongoing production of body armor components. These products are used by the U.S. military and its allies.
The expansion adds to a growing aerospace and defense industry in the state. The Arkansas Economic Development Commission said that CoorsTek qualified for two incentives. The first is Tax Back, which provides sales tax refunds on building materials, taxable machinery, and equipment associated with the project. The second, dubbed Advantage Arkansas, provides a state income tax credit equivalent to 1% of total payroll.
CoorsTek has 14 facilities throughout the U.S., as well as additional locations in Asia, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. The company’s products are also used in the aerospace, optics, chemicals, consumer, electronics, and energy markets.
