Cadillac’s Escalade was a pioneer in combining luxury with an SUV, and at a more affordable price. Now, with the help of a Canadian automotive specialist, the Escalade is also becoming a unique symbol for safety. But I’m not talking about airbags and anti-lock brakes – more like body armor and closed-circuit cameras.
Inkas recently unveiled their fully armored 2019 Cadillac Escalade ESV conversion vehicle. Its body is covered in armor strong enough to stop bullets from high-power assault rifles, with upgrades available for halting armor-piercing bullets. The rear hatch is lined with extra metal plating and a 360-degree closed-circuit camera system ensures visibility from every avenue of approach. These cameras are controlled by a touchscreen tablet system, and footage is even backed up to a cloud-based server.
Additional options can include biometric gun safes, satellite TV and telephone systems, and heavy-duty exhaust fans for … smokers. And it wouldn’t be an Escalade without luxury features that begin with a 4” roof extension that improves headroom and provides additional space for things like a mini bar and smart TV.
An air purification system, a 4G LTE wi-fi hotspot and powered reclining seats with embedded heating, cooling, and massaging controls are also included. A DayLight headliner system even replicates natural daylight at any time of the day.
While the base armored version comes in at about $300,000, other configurations and options that Inkas doesn’t make public can push the price tag up to as much as $500,000.
