Adding to the recent rise in manufacturing in the Southeast, automotive and appliance supplier Truform Manufacturing has announced that the company will invest $14 million to expand its operations in Dickson, Tennessee, creating 90 jobs in the process.
This will mark Truform’s third major expansion since 2012, with job creation set to take place over the next five years. Truform operates an ISO/IATF 16949 metal stamping and assembly facility, producing components and modular assemblies for Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs. The expansion is owed to recent growth in both the automotive and appliance markets.
Automotive growth, in particular, has been an economic juggernaut for the region. Similar expansions in Georgia, South Carolina, and Mississippi have been fueled by state and local government tax incentives, improved worker training, and a nearly nonexistent presence of organized labor.
The 40,000-square-foot expansion will take place in a facility that currently employs 160 workers. Truform hopes to have the facility operational by late next year. The Tennessee Valley Authority and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development played key roles in assisting the company with investment and employee recruitment strategies.
