Scott Health & Safety's FLAMEVision FV300 Wins Product Innovation Award at Firex Show

Monroe, NC (July 16, 2009) - Scott Health & Safety's FLAMEVision(TM) FV300 array based flame detector has won the Fire Industry Association (FIA) Product Innovation Award at the 2009 Fire Excellence Awards in Birmingham, England on May 12, 2009.

These accolades are widely recognized as the fire industry's premier awards event and are held in conjunction with the focal point of the international fire industry calendar-the International Firex and Fire & Rescue 2009 shows.

"FLAMEVision FV300 is an innovative product which helps businesses react to fire more efficiently. The combination of infrared fire detection and CCTV means, for the first time, the exact location and size of the fire can be determined and addressed quickly without causing enormous amounts of disruption to the business. We're very pleased that the four years our R&D teams have invested in the product has been recognized with the 2009 Fire Excellence Award," said Martin Harvey, Scott Health & Safety Regional Director, EMEAA.

Launched in November 2008, FLAMEVision FV300 array based flame detector is a commercial product that pinpoints a fire's location using a 256-point infrared gate array. Location of the fire is further enhanced for an operator to see via the built-in CCTV camera. This helps shorten response times, increase the accuracy of detection and minimize disruption.

The product has several features that make its application ideal for fire detection within commercial buildings:

Situational awareness-FLAMEVision is unique in infrared flame detection
as it provides location information of both single and multiple fire
events. Using a 256-point infrared gate array as the sensing
component, the detectors automatically and reliably identify a flame
incident, and pinpoint the location on a video image. As a result
fires can be isolated, minimizing the need to shut down an entire
plant.

Alarm reliability-FLAMEVision minimizes false alarms by using advanced
digital algorithms to provide accurate discrimination between flame
and non-flame events.

Cost savings-The improved accuracy of fire detection, as well as the
decrease in false alarms, means that costs are kept to a minimum and
disruptions to the site are avoided as much as possible.

Increased safety in high risk situations-FLAMEVision can be a major
contributor to fire safety in high risk situations where flammable
hydrocarbon products are processed, such as off-shore oil and gas
platforms, off-shore fuel storage facilities, petrochemical plants,
aircraft hangars and road and rail tunnels.

The Scott FLAMEVision 300 is the perfect companion device to Scott's fixed gas detection portfolio and provides complete detection capability to ensure comprehensive site safety. For more information about the FLAMEVision 300, visit Scott's website at scotthealthsafety.com
