Azalea Networks and Sentrus Inc. Introduce Rapid Security Network Starter Kit for Portable Wireless Communications with High-Performance Video

New fast-deploying wireless communications network is first to leverage Layer-3 routing technology for improved reliability of voice, data, and video

MILPITAS, Calif., April 1 /-- Azalea Networks, a leading innovator in wireless network equipment and technology, today announced the introduction of a high-performance, affordable security communications network that leverages Layer-3 wireless routing technology. Sentrus Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri, is integrating its patented IP remote wireless video surveillance hardware and software with the advanced routing features of Azalea's wireless mesh solution into a bundled starter kit called the Rapid Security Network.

The Rapid Security Network starter kit is designed to allow police departments, emergency personnel, and first responders to quickly and easily deploy communications networks any place they may be needed. The portability of the Rapid Security Network provides the flexibility to move the network wherever it is needed, expand it, and enhance it with additional security equipment.

With more and more law enforcement agencies and first responders requiring video as part of their communications network, the Rapid Security Network starter kit provides broadcast-quality video to support data and voice communications. "Having specialized in providing security equipment to government agencies as well as police and emergency response departments for many years, we see the starter kit as filling a crucial role in the needs of public safety, in particular video surveillance," reported Richard Weinstein, president of Sentrus. "They can't afford to have dropped frames and lost packets compromise the integrity of their network and since Azalea's technology offers virtually jitter-free broadcast-quality wireless video, it is the perfect solution," he added.

The Rapid Security Network starter kit includes a central fusion center, or field operating base, and remote station. Each consists of an Azalea MSR2000 dual-radio router, PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera, battery, all cables and mounting hardware plus a wheeled Storm case for portability. The central fusion center also includes a personal computer pre-loaded with video management software. The entire package sets up in minutes and comes pre-configured for ease of use.

Options include increased coverage by adding additional remote stations, enhanced portability with an extendable mast and long-life fuel cells, enhanced voice communications with VoIP phones, PBX VoIP phones, and two-way radios. Optional infrared cameras provide enhanced video surveillance capabilities as well as sensor notification devices including ground radar and ground sensors.

Powered with the industry's only wireless solution built with video in mind, the Rapid Security Network starter kit leverages Azalea's unique Layer-3 routing protocol. This wireless mesh solution features Adaptive Wireless Routing(TM) (AWR) technology ensuring the most efficient path for traffic over the network, enhancing the network's reliability and scalability. It also features Azalea's Active Video Transport(TM) (AVT) technology that is designed to remove impairments to video quality including jitter and packet loss, and dramatically improve the performance of video applications in a broadband wireless network infrastructure. "With the security expertise of Sentrus and the performance-enhancing capabilities of Azalea's routing technology, the Rapid Security Network is the answer for any government organization, police department, or first response agency seeking a mobile, affordable communications solution," reported Brian Carlson, vice president and general manager of North America for Azalea Networks.

Azalea also offers public safety officials the benefits of its Motrix(TM) technology, which allows mobility within a network, even at high speeds, maintaining a continuous connection as the user moves through the network. Azalea Networks and Sentrus will be presenting the Rapid Security Network starter kit at the ISC West conference April 1-3 in Las Vegas, booth 9056.
