Wittbrodt and Plaster Named Senior Managers at ABB's Automation Products, Low Voltage Business


(Both managers will help ABB continue to support fast growth of low voltage
products in North America)

RALEIGH, NC, September 2, 2005 . . . Bruce Wittbrodt has been named senior
vice president and general manager of ABB's Automation Products, Low
Voltage Systems, North American Operations, according to Greg Scheu, senior
vice president of the North America Automation Products business. Scheu
also named Mike Plaster as senior vice president and general manager of
U.S. operation for the Automation Products Low Voltage Products & Systems
(controls) business.

"It's a pleasure to announce these two additions to our Low Voltage (LV)
Automation Products North American management team," said Scheu. "These two
experienced leaders will help us achieve our North American strategy goals
and capitalize on a business that is growing well above market rates."

Wittbrodt was General Electric's head of marketing for LV and MV
switchgear. In addition, he worked for Schneider Electric/Square D Company
and G&W Electric in various sales and marketing positions of increasing
responsibility. He brings more than 22 years of experience in the
electrical and automation industry to his assignment. "That deep experience
makes him the ideal person to help ABB make large strides in the North
American market," Scheu noted. Wittbrodt will be based in ABB's Low Voltage
Products & Systems offices in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Plaster brings more than 17 years of experience in the electrical and
automation industry -- most recently with Kirby Risk Supply Company in
Indiana. He also has experience with Schneider Electric/Square D Company
and AC Tech - an AC drives manufacturer. "His background in automation
products and with channel partners is an excellent fit with our growth
strategy," according to Scheu. Plaster also will be based in Wichita Falls
and be responsible for the operations in Wichita Falls and Syracuse, New
York.
