Why Canada? - Developers are Currently Building More Than 20 Million Square Feet of New Office Space in Canada

Hamilton, OH - Drew Bunn, Canadian Director of Sales for Kaivac, recently gave a presentation to the company’s key stakeholders, discussing why marketing cleaning products in Canada is an “excellent opportunity.”

Bunn views Canada as a growth opportunity for the professional cleaning industry for the following reasons:

• With a population of only 35 million, Canada created nearly 220,000 new jobs over the past year, the majority of which are full-time positions.

• Ontario and Western Canada, where Kaivac has most of its operations, are the key growth drivers of the country’s economy.

• So far, Canada has not been much impacted by tariffs, whether placed on Canadian manufacturers or on Chinese goods sold in Canada.

• Although commercial construction growth in Canada has slumped since 2016, it is up this year and predictions are this will continue until 2021.

The Vancouver Sun newspaper reported in July 2019 that developers in Canada are currently building more than 20 million square feet of new office space in the country.

"When the amount of new office building projects are compared to the total existing size of the respective office markets, Canada is building nearly twice that of the U.S.” (1)

Attending the presentation, Marc Ferguson, Kaivac’s Vice President of Global Sales, adds that it is this pace of new construction growth that is most attractive to the professional cleaning industry.
