Whitford Hires Worldwide Regulatory Manager


Elverson, PA – Whitford, makers of the world’s largest, most complete line of fluoropolymer coatings, has hired Tom Hmiel as its new Regulatory Manager covering all markets.



Tom comes to Whitford with more than 25 years of experience in regulatory affairs in the chemical industry, most recently as a Chief Product Steward for Cytec’s engineered materials and formulated resins businesses. In that role, Tom had coordinated compliance with global product regulatory requirements, supporting manufacturing in the US, Europe, and Asia, while serving a global customer base in aerospace, automotive, filtration, and electronic component markets.



Tom previously served in both product regulatory and manufacturing Environment Health and Safety roles with BASF Corporation within the NAFTA region.



Tom’s experience with global regulations includes:



• Former industry leader of the American Chemistry Council Air issue team • FDA medical-device and food-contact compliance

• TSCA new substance notifications and chemical data reporting

• Management of REACH registration and authorization

• Hazardous materials transport regulations.



He earned a Bachelor and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, and later an MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix.
