WAGO 4-Channel Electronic Circuit Breakers Earn Control Engineering 2010 Engineers' Choice Award

GERMANTOWN, WI - February 2010 - Control Engineering readers have bestowed the 2010 Engineers' Choice Award for "Power Protection" to WAGO Corporation's 787 Series 4-Channel Electronic Circuit Breakers. For the annual competition, manufacturers submitted 96 new products for judging by Control Engineering readers. The readers - who have extensive hands-on industrial experience - identified products in 29 industrial subcategories that best represent technological advancement, service to industry and market impact.

"WAGO's win of the 'Power Protection' category with its 4-Channel Electronic Circuit Breakers shows how new features can invigorate interest even in established technologies," said David Greenfield, Control Engineering Editorial Director. "We congratulate WAGO for its continued development of products that are core to engineers in the automation and controls industry."

Programmable Electronics Circuit Breakers Protect Productivity:
WAGO Electronic Circuit Breakers (ECB) independently protect up to four current paths (up to 10A at 24VDC max. each), selectively shutting down a faulted load. Remaining loads continue operation, preventing a system-wide shutdown and potential data loss.

Several industry-exclusive features populate the ECB range to eliminate redundant power-monitoring components (e.g., volt, amp and operational hour meters). The devices independently program appropriate channel- or circuit-specific ratings and trip times via free WAGO Configuration and Monitoring software. Other ECB-exclusive features/functions include: on-unit LEDs, LCD/keypad, signal outputs and an RS-232 interface (for energy monitoring and fault diagnostics). Remote reset functionality on select models eliminates in-the-field manual resets.

"Receiving industry-wide approval of the ECB's features and benefits by those with the most experience confirms the need for this new approach to power protection," said Michelle Goeman WAGO Product Manager - Terminal Blocks and Electronic Interface.

WAGO's 750-644 Bluetooth® RF-Transceiver Module was also honored with a 2010 Engineers' Choice Award "General Wireless Products." Past Engineers' Choice Awards: 750 Series Stepper Module for "Motion Control" (2006); 758 Series WAGO-I/O-IPC for "Embedded Control" (2004). The WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM received an Editors' Choice Award for "Control Components" in 1995. The 750-871 Ethernet Programmable Fieldbus Controller received an Honorable Mention in 2008's Engineers' Choice competition. All 2010 winners at: http://www.controleng.com/awards.
