Vonage Makes Digging Safe for Its Customers

Subscribers can now dial 811 Free of Charge

HOLMDEL, N.J., Oct. 30 -- Vonage America Inc. a subsidiary of Vonage Holdings Corp. (NYSE: VG - News), a leading broadband telephony provider, today announced that its customers can now dial 811 from their Vonage phones, at no charge, to find out whether it is safe to dig in certain areas. Vonage subscribers, who are adding an addition to their home, installing a new pool, or digging any type of ditch, can dial 811 and be connected to one call center, which will assist in their efforts to dig safely.

"Vonage is pleased to offer its customers the convenience of 811 dialing to help ensure their excavation will be safe," stated Michael Tribolet, president of Vonage America Inc. "This is just another example of Vonage answering its customer's needs."

When subscribers dial 811, their call is routed from Vonage's network to a local one call center.* The center then notifies the local utility companies in the area to mark the approximate location of their underground utilities, helping Vonage customers avoid damaging underground utilities such as pipes or cables when starting to dig. People should generally call 3 days before they are planning to dig to give the utility companies ample time to mark the approximate line locations. It is an individual's responsibility to wait the required time for underground utilities to be located and marked and each individual should dig with care to avoid damaging underground facilities.

* Note that 811 access depends on its availability within your area.
States set their own timelines and procedures on when to call. In some
states it is the law to call before you dig. Subscribers should check
with their state and local governments for further information.
