Vishay to Showcase Power Electronics for Solar Energy at Intersolar Europe 2012

Vishay Intertechnology to Showcase Broad Range of Standard and Special Power Electronics for Solar Energy at Intersolar Europe 2012

MALVERN, Pa. - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced that the company will be presenting powerful and energy-efficient power electronics products such as rectifiers, resistors, aluminum and film capacitors, diodes, MOSFETs, and optocouplers at Intersolar Europe 2012, taking place June 13-15 at the Munich Trade Fair Centre. On display in booth B6.285, the company's products target solar applications such as inverters, junction boxes, MPPT tracking systems, and system control.

Junction Boxes

For solar cell junction boxes, Vishay's 45 V Trench MOS barrier Schottky TMBS® single-chip rectifiers feature a wide range of current ratings from 10 A to 40 A and extremely low forward voltage drops down to 0.51 V typical at 20 A. Offering a compact design and very high reliability at high operating temperatures, the TMBS devices are available in leaded and SMD designs and can handle solder dip temperatures to + 200 °C.

Inverters

Vishay's MKP1848S (slim DC-link) film capacitors offer steady resistance at temperatures as low as - 40 °C for additional protection for pulsed switching currents in micro-inverters. With heights of 12 mm, 15 mm, 18 mm, and 24 mm, the capacitors provide maximum capacity in minimal sizes. The devices offer nominal capacitance ratings from 2 µF to 100 µF and nominal voltages of 500 VDC, 700 VDC, and 1000 VDC.

Devices in the 095 PLL-4TSI series of 4-terminal, snap-in power capacitors are available in case sizes ranging from 35 mm by 50 mm to 45 mm by 100 mm. With larger case sizes than standard snap-in devices, the 095 PLL-4TSI series offers high capacitance/voltage combinations, from 390 µF at 450 V to 2,200 µF at 350 V. For applications where a 500 V rating is required, Vishay also offers the 096 PLL-4TSI series with a 350 V to 500 V rated voltage range, capacitance to 2,700 µF, and a useful life of 5,000 h at + 85 °C.

Vishay's E series of 600 V and 650 V n-channel power MOSFETs offers ultra-low maximum on-resistance from 64 mW to 190 mW at 10 V, and a wide range of current ratings from 22 A to 47 A. Based on Vishay's next generation of Super Junction technology, the devices provide ultra-low gate charge and low gate charge times on-resistance, a key figure of merit (FOM) for MOSFETs used in power conversion applications.

System Control

Vishay's CNY6 series CAT IV optocouplers - the industry's first such devices available in surface-mount packages and optimized for solar installations - protect equipment and people from being damaged or injured by a high-voltage spike or transient of up to 12,000 V and a recurring peak voltage of 1,450 V, while allowing data to pass from the high-voltage side to low-voltage monitoring equipment.

Optically isolated electronic solid-state relays (SSR) such as the VO1400AEFTS offer an ideal solution for malfunction alarms. The VO1400AEFTS is a miniature 1-Form-A SSR with low on-resistance of 5W , trigger current of 1 mA, and load voltage of 60 V. Using an optical medium, the device provides clean, bounce-free switching for indoor security, instrumentation, and industrial control systems.

CMB 0207 specialty MELF resistors with advanced pulse load capability are the perfect choice for the protection of circuitry with signal and mains input lines from surge pulses. The resistors are also suitable for circuits exposed to high levels of electromagnetic interference or electrostatic discharge. The devices are based on a special carbon film technology and offer up to 10 kV or 17 kW single-pulse capability.
