Vishay Intertechnology to Demonstrate Leading Ambient, Proximity, UV, and RGBW Light Sensors at Sensors Expo & Conference 2016

MALVERN, Pa. - June 8, 2016 - The Optoelectronics group of Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced its technology lineup for Sensors Expo Conference 2016, taking place June 21-23 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. In booth 419, Vishay will provide demonstrations of its leading ambient, proximity, ultraviolet (UV), and RGBW light sensors for consumer, industrial, and automotive applications.

Highlighted ambient light sensors at Sensors Expo Conference 2016 will include the VEML6030 featuring Filtron™ technology for ambient light spectral sensitivity close to that of the human eye. Ideal for notebook and PC computers, LCD TVs, and industrial and medical light sensing, Vishay will provide a demonstration of the device's accuracy compared with a high-precision optometer.

Fully integrated proximity and ambient light sensors on display will include the VCNL4100 and VCNL4020X01. For home appliances and automatic soap and towel dispensers, Vishay will demonstrate the VCNL4100's 1 m to 1.5 m detection range for long-distance proximity sensing. Offering a 16-bit resolution, the AEC-Q101-qualified VCNL4020X01 is optimized for automotive dashboard displays and mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, PDAs, and GPS units. Visitors to booth 419 will see how the device can be used in conjunction with two VSMF2890RGX01 infrared emitters to enable gesture recognition.

At Sensors Expo Conference 2016, Vishay will demonstrate the capabilities of its new VEML6075 UV light sensor, which offers individual UVA and UVB channels with 16-bit resolution and excellent sensitivity of 365 nm and 330 nm, respectively. Designed to convert solar UV light intensity to digital data, the VEML6075 provides a measurement of signal strength and allows for true UVI calculation in smart watches, sport bands, and weather stations.

The VEML6040 digital RGBW color sensor will be on display. The sensor allows the brightness and color temperature of backlighting to be adjusted based on ambient light, making LCD and LED panels more comfortable for end users' eyes. In addition to demonstrating the device's ability to identify ambient light sources and calculate lux and correlated color temperature, Vishay will use the sensor with a light tester jig to highlight its accuracy.

For over 30 years, Sensors Expo Conference has been one of the world's largest events focused exclusively on sensors and sensor-integrated systems. More information on the event is available at http://www.sensorsexpo.com/.
