Vishay Intertechnology's VLMx234.. Series of MiniLEDs Receives 2014 OFweek LED Award
MALVERN, Pa. — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced that the company's VLMx234.. series of power MiniLEDs in ultra-compact 2.3 mm by 1.3 mm by 1.4 mm SMD packages has been honored with a 2014 OFweek LED Award.
Hosted by China's OFweek (www.ofweek.com) high-tech Web portal, the annual OFweek LED awards program is one of the most influential in China's high-tech industry. Now in its fourth year, the campaign recognizes products, technologies, and enterprises for their contributions to the LED industry, encouraging more investment in technological innovation.
OFweek LED awards are given in seven categories, with winners chosen based on their positive impact on the industry in regard to safety, performance, profitability, productivity, pollution reduction, and other factors. In the category of "Best LED Light Source Technology Innovation," the Vishay Semiconductors VLMx234.. series was selected based on its ability to deliver exceptional brightness while providing improved thermal performance compared to previous-generation LEDs.
Utilizing the latest advanced AllnGaP technology, the VLMx234.. series provides a typical luminous intensity of 3500 mcd and maximum luminous intensity of 4900 mcd at 70 mA. The high-intensity LEDs offer low thermal resistance junction/ambient of 325 K/W and power dissipation up to 200 mW, which in turn enables high drive currents up to 70 mA.
The devices' small size and high luminous intensity makes them ideal for automotive applications. Offered in super red, red, amber, and yellow, the AEC-Q101-qualified LEDs are ideal for interior and exterior lighting, dashboard illumination, indicators and backlighting for A/V and industrial equipment, LCD switches and symbols, illuminated advertising, and more.
The awards were presented on Nov. 20 during a ceremony held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Shenzhen, China. Senior Sales Manager Derek Cheung was on hand to accept the award on behalf of Vishay.
