Verizon Wireless Expands Network in Missouri's Springfield/Branson/Lake of the Ozarks Areas

New Wireless Network Infrastructure Expands Coverage Area and Services Along I-44 and Springfield Metro Area

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Jan. 25 / -- Verizon Wireless customers in the Springfield, Branson and Lake of the Ozarks region now have direct access to the nation's most reliable wireless network. Investing more than $26 million in the expansion of its network, Verizon Wireless has constructed 89 new cell sites throughout the new markets. The expanded coverage means that both new and existing customers will enjoy Verizon Wireless' reliable network, clearer reception, and fewer dropped calls throughout the region. The expansion also links to existing service territories in the Rolla area and southwest Missouri, providing Verizon Wireless customers with seamless service along Interstate 44 from St. Louis to Joplin.

The new network coverage also includes the entire Springfield metropolitan area, all of Greene County, the Branson metropolitan area and Camdenton north to existing service territories in Jefferson City and Columbia.

"This network enhancement reflects our ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the reliable, high quality services they expect from Verizon Wireless," said Lou Sigillo, president-Kansas/Missouri Region, Verizon Wireless. "Wireless consumers today understand that value is not defined by price alone. A major reason our customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us is because we offer the nation's most reliable network. And now, we can offer that coverage directly to more Missourians than ever before."

To mark this major expansion of the Verizon Wireless network, the company will offer customers in the Kansas/Missouri Region, including those in St. Louis, Kansas City, Topeka, Wichita, Carbondale and Columbia, 2,000 minutes of bonus airtime for new, two-year service activations and for 2-year contract renewals. This special offer will be available until February 18, 2008. The new coverage will also give residents the convenience of the IN Network, which provides customers the ability to talk and send text and multimedia messages to other Verizon Wireless subscribers free.

"We are always working to increase our network coverage and reliability, and our expansion throughout central and southwest Missouri is an important part of this commitment," said Sigillo. "Local residents, businesses and visitors will have direct access to the benefits of Verizon Wireless, including local points of purchase opening next month."

The expanded service is part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to expand coverage, improve capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Missouri and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $40 billion since it was formed -- more than $5 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services.
