Varian Has Acquired HumediQ Global GmbH
Varian has acquired humediQ Global GmbH, a leader in the development of advanced patient identification, accessory verification, and motion management solutions. Based in Munich Germany and with offices in Munich and the USA, humediQ specializes in the IDENTIFY patient setup and motion management system.
“The IDENTIFY solution combines improved patient safety, an enhanced clinical workflow and surface guided imaging for high-quality radiation therapy treatments,” said Christian Hieronimi, CEO of humediQ Global. The humediQ IDENTIFY portfolio includes surface-guided radiation therapy (SGRT) technology, an integrated automated patient setup verification and motion management system for SGRT, and surface-guided radiosurgery (SGRS), featuring:
- Automated biometric patient identification
- Immobilization and couch setup accessory verification
- Surface image-guided patient setup verification with recording to the oncology information system (OIS)
- Optimized patient position monitoring for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS)
- Precise patient and respiration monitoring for stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT)
This acquisition is the latest step in Varian’s strategy to become a global leader in multi-disciplinary, integrated cancer care solutions, and is part of the company’s long-term growth and value creation strategy.
