VALVCON® Introduces ''Smart Set'' Back-Up Powered ON/OFF ''Plug-n-Play'' Electronics for ADC Series Electric Actuators
MILFORD, N.H.--Aug. 31, 2006--Metso Automation's VALVCON(R) brand electric actuators now offer a solid state processor-based package that provides the widest variety of standard features along with long-life battery back-up power for power fail conditions. The VALVCON 2870 ADC Series On/Off electronic package offers a "plug-n-play" upgrade to one of the most rugged and reliable electric actuator platforms currently available.
The VALVCON ADC Series of back-up power electric actuators are more compact, more powerful - with up to 250 foot/pound of breakaway torque - and provide more standard features than competitive back-up powered actuators.
Ideal for critical applications such as ESD that require valve or damper operation after a loss of line power, ADC Series actuators are used extensively in oil and gas production and distribution, dampers in fire safe applications, fuel systems in airports and loading racks, and many other chemical, water/wastewater and process control applications.
The VALVCON 2870 ADC Series On/Off electronic package offers:
o Wide range of control options in one package - 115VAC, 230VAC, 12 & 24VDC, 24VAC
o Analog position output signal - choose between 4-20mA or 0-10VDC with no hard wiring changes or separate boards required
o Manual push button control on board for driving CW and CCW, off line, providing a means of safely driving the valve during set-up or off-line positioning
o Three position capability - CW, CCW or mid-position with 90 degree, 180 degree, and 270 degree span options
o Two-wire or three-wire control options - switch-selectable on board, with no hard wiring or jumper changes required
o Switch-selectable fail position - CW, CCW, or mid-position upon loss of line power
o Choice of "park at fail" position or "multi-cycle" capability upon loss of line power
o Battery full charge and charging status indication on board
o Travel stop positions may be "Smart Set" electronically or set mechanically via stainless steel cams and micro-switches
o Solid state electronics throughout - no mechanical relays for greater reliability
o Auto calibration feature for position output potentiometer - no external equipment is required for calibration
o On board stall alarm and stall shut down prevents damage and provides an extra layer of safety in the event of a jammed valve or damper
