Upper Trinity to Install PSI's MicrOclor Large Capacity Hypochlorite Generators

The Upper Trinity Regional Water District (UTRWD), located north of Dallas, TX will be changing its potable water disinfection technology to use Process Solutions Inc.'s (PSI) MicrOclor hypochlorite generators. UTRWD has purchased three MicrOclor Model MC-2000 systems, each offering 2000 pounds per day of free available chlorine (FAC) capacity, for a total capacity of 6000 pounds per day. These systems will add to PSI's growing list of large-capacity hypochlorite installations. Hypochlorite generation uses salt, water, and electricity to generate a dilute bleach solution on site, eliminating the storage and transport of hazardous chlorine chemicals and offering an expected operational cost savings over bulk delivered hypochlorite.

UTRWD is a progressive water utility that has always strived to exceed standard water quality regulations, utilizing state-of-the-art technology in their water treatment facility, including ozone, granular activated carbon, and on-site generation of hypochlorite. The MicrOclor systems will be replacing another manufacturer's older hypochlorite system, installed about 10 years ago. PSI's Regional Sales Manager, Jerry Scott, says, "Upper Trinity decided to purchase PSI's MicrOclor system because of our experience within the onsite generator industry, our record of outstanding customer service and system reliability, and the unique design of the generator that maximizes safety."

The new MicrOclor systems are being installed at the Thomas E. Taylor Regional Water Treatment Plant in Lewisville, Texas. This facility is able to treat up to 70 million gallons per day of finished water. UTRWD provides treated water on a wholesale basis to cities, towns, and utilities in Denton County and portions of Dallas and Collin Counties. The MicrOclor systems are now onsite and installation is expected to be complete in late Spring 2011.
